A valid fear among clients is that after treatment they will look unnatural, but what exactly causes someone to look “fake”?

Incorrect Placement
An injection in the wrong location or at the wrong depth can alter the face shape. The side effects of wrong placement could also be lumpy skin, blockage of blood vessels, and death of skin tissue. It is very important to go to an experienced doctor who has an anatomical understanding of the face. Before you choose your doctor or practitioner it is best to have a consultation.

Too Much Filler
Most fillers have a Hyaluronic Acid (HA) base meaning they attract water to the injection site. While immediate results can be seen it takes a few weeks for the filler to take full effect. Immediate results can be slightly underwhelming, but it is important to be patient. Getting more injections to have an immediate plump look may result in overfilled cheeks after the filler takes full of effect. When it comes to HA fillers a good rule to stick by is “less is more.”

Only Using HA Fillers
While HA fillers are a very effective and good treatment they are not the solution. Before getting HA fillers for the volume it is important to address the elasticity of the skin. If the skin needs tightening then HA fillers may not be the answer. Only using HA fillers may result in stretched skin after the filler dissolves. It is important to combine HA fillers with collagen-stimulating treatments such as radiofrequency, micro-needling, and collagen-based fillers.
